Lindsay Lohan arrested on assault charge

By Brynn Gingras, NBCNewYork.com NEW YORK -- "Mean Girls" actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested on an assault charge at a Manhattan nightclub early Thursday after an alleged confrontation involving another patron, police said. It wasn't immediately clear what prompted the alleged fight at Club Avenue in Chelsea at around 4 a.m. ET. Lohan was later taken to the 10th Precinct early Thursday. Calls to Lohan's representatives in California were not immediately returned. Read more from NBCNewYork.com The 26-year-old Lohan remains on informal probation for taking a necklace last year from a jewelry store without permission. She is not required to check in with a judge or probation officer, but she could face a jail term if she is re-arrested.    Lindsay Lohan: I was bullied in school Lohan recently filmed "The Canyons," a film by "Less Than Zero" author Bret Easton Ellis.
